Lightning is a destructive electrical discharge phenomenon in nature,having a tremendous effect on human production and life,especially for power facilities.Qing Yuan City is located between the Pearl River Delta Plain and the mountains of northern Guangdong convergence zone in Guangdong Province so that its special geographical position very easily lead to strong convective weather-over 90 days of lightning for an annual average and intense lightning activity.10 k V overhead line is a major component in Qingyuan distribution network.Due to the lower voltage level of the grid insulation level and their widely distribution,they are vulnerable to lightning damage.For a long time,lightning is the main cause of line tripping of 10 k V distribution in Qingyuan area.In 2014,10 k V overhead distribution lines were struck by lightning,occupying 30% of all the failures in the 10 k V medium voltage circuit.Lightning has become a major damage to power distribution and equipment operation.It not only seriously affects the safe operation and reliability of power supply,but also greatly increases the failure repair frequency and personal safety risks.To effectively reduce the lightning failure times of 10 k V overhead distribution lines,we come up with some comprehensive and systematic strategies combining with analysis and refinement of former experience and results in distribution network system.Applying to Big Data and simulation analysis,we go on analyzing and investigating the line insulation configuration?the simulation of lightning protection devices and lightning overhead lines ? the optimization of grounding device and arrester rotation and so on.It can form a systematic and comprehensive strategy for the lightning protection,meeting with the regional characteristics of Qingyuan.The strategies focus on analysis and research of line insulation level helping choose lighting protection device in scientific ways.According to local conditions,we propose different lightning protection technology requirements and operation demands for lighting protection device.This can help us scientifically choose the10 k V overhead distribution line insulation configurations and make lightning protection device configuration more economic and reasonable and grounding grid more simple and reliable,which can reflect an idea of lightning protection in acomprehensive,different and accurate way.In addition,the idea contributes to effectively solving the problem of the singleness ? the blindness and the lack of scientific basis about lightning protection means for the past 10 k V overhead distribution lines.This article also describes two actual cases about lighting protection transformation which effectively verify practicality and effectiveness of such strategies and related research results.With the hope of studying and using of lightning protection strategies,we can promote the standardization of distribution network to improve the relevance and effectiveness of these measures.In this way,we can not only reduce the frequency of lightning attack and its risks but also improve equipment health and reliability.
