Finite Element Analysis And Simplified Calculation Method Of Raft Foundation Settlement

With the development of the society,high-rise buildings are increasing day by day.Independent foundation cannot meet the demands of high-rise building for the foundation to resist load and keep stable.However,with the advantages of heightening construction overall stiffness and the ability of adjusting uneven settlement,raft foundation has been used widely.The settlement calculation of raft foundation has became an important subject in the study of Foundation Engineering.The settlement calculation of raft foundation is much more difficult than independent foundation,and there is no ripe study on this field.Because uniform standards and specification about settlement calculation of raft foundation haven't set up yet,so there are many methods,but the results from different methods always vary a lot.So this paper mainly studies the settlement of raft foundation whih finite element software and propose a simplified calculation method to calculated values of the settlement.Based on previous studies of raft foundation and an actual project,a series of research,which is point at Slab Raft Foundation,on the settlement of raft foundation have been done by using finite element software in this paper.Firstly reasonable finite element model should be built,then analysis the influence factors on raft foundations' settlement,such as the thickness of the raft,the column spacing,the upper loading,the thickness of compressed layer of soil,and the overhanging length of the raft.Finally,the premise condition of simplified calculation of raft foundation settlement has been proposed through function fitting method.And a formula to calculate the size of the independent foundation,which is used for simplifying calculation the settlement of raft foundation,has been deduced by using dimension analysis.
