With the focus on performance-based seismic design, the research of earthquake resilience structures has been paid more attention gradually.Self-centering structure systems as one of the earthquake resilience structures, not only can decrease permanent deformation after earthquake, but also can limit the permanent deformation on the replaceable energy dissipator. After earthquake the structure can continue to use with replacing the energy dissipator, which has a good prospect of engineering applications. The ideal shape of the hysteresis curve of the self-centering structure system is the double flags, which reflects the strict residual deformation processing control principle of the structure system. The principle leads to strong lateral stiffness and low hysteresis area, not only against to the development of structural energy dissipative capacity, but also affect the size control of column sections. Therefore,it is necessary to improve the residual deformation control principle of selfcentering structure systems.Based on the literature research of self-centering structure and residual deformation at home and abroad, the hysteresis correction conjecture has been put forward in this paper for the first time and a new matching loading protocol has been designed. The single-layer and three-layer finite element structural models of self-centering with steel plate shear walls has been built by ABAQUS and OpenSEES respectively, then the low-cycle reciprocating simulation test that compared a based loading protocol to the new loading protocol and the seismic elastic-plastic time history analysis has been conducted, therefore the validity and objectivity of hysteresis correction phenomenon has been verified. Then the theory of hysteresis correction is also analyzed theoretically combined the related mechanics theory. The results shown that:1)Excessive pursuit of reset performance can cause energy dissipation capacity deficiency or column cross-section design bloated. Therefore,it is not perfect to require a little residual deformation of each cycles during the loading process that referred the double flags hysteresis curve.2)The new loading protocol can well reflect the hysteresis correction phenomenon, which can effectively reduce the final residual lateral drift of the self-centering structures and improve the seismic performance of the self-centering structures. Therefore, the new loading protocol is suitable for consideration in the research and design of self-centering structure systems.3)When used in the plastic metal energy dissipator, hysteresis correction which premises is still very good fitting the main design conception of the self-centering structure systems can effectively reduce the residual lateral drift,so it is suitable for the control principles research of the residual deformation in self-centering structure systems.4)By introducing the hysteresis correction and referring the domestic and foreign research relevantly, the processing control principles of the residual deformation has been canceled in the self-centering structural systems. The improved control principles of residual deformation is performance-based objective controls of interlayer lateral drift: limit the maximum elastic-plastic interlayer lateral drift of less than 2% overall stages, then in accordance with the exceeding probability of earthquake, the control objectives of postearthquake residual lateral drift has been divided into four stages.
