Ganjiang River flows into Poyang Lake by the channel of Ganjiang River sink.This channel is located in Nanchang city which is the political center and economic center of Jiangxi province.The regulation of Ganjiang River sink started long before and it has formed a complete system of flood control.However,these measures of river regulation can not meet the demands with the development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standards.In recent years,some new problems have appeared as the impact of human activities on this area is increasing.It’s necessary to put forward new regulation schemes to sove these problems.In order to get the knowledge of runoff-sediment characteristics of Ganjiang River sink,tons of runoff-sediment statistics on Ganjiang River have been analyzed.On this basis,the history of the riverbed evolution of Ganjiang River sink can be divided into four parts.1.Stable period: the riverbed kept a rough balance of sediment and its structure was stable.2.Closure period: it showed a trend of gradual erosion and the right-side shoal began to shrink.3.Dredge period: it showed a trend of severe erosion and structure of riverbed changed greatly.4.Regulation period: it returned to the statement of sediment balance.Meanwhile,some recent remote sensing images of Ganjiang River sink have been analyzed to make up the shortage of relevant measured data.It has showed the revolution of Ganjiang River sink on the plane as well.In addition,one of the latest regulation engineering in this area used to block off the north branch channel of Gangjiang River sink has been simulated by numerical method.A two-dimensional flow and sediment model has been built to contrast the water level as well as its sediment transport under the condition of engineering and non-engineering respectively.The effect on raising water level of Nanchang area in dry season has been analyzed based on the simulation results.The influence on Ganjiang River sink’s original revolution laws by this project has been discussed as well,and some relevant advises have been proposed.
