With the continuous expansion of power grid in C hina and the regional power grid interconnection,the safety and stability of power system is more and more attention.The emergence of Wide Area Measurement S ystem(WAMS)has made it possible for real-time dynamic monitoring of power system.And phasor measurement unit(PMU)is the foundation of WAMS.If all nodes of the entire network are allocated by PMUs,the power system is completely observable and state estimation is linear without iteration.However PMU is expensive,if the nodes are allocated by PMU,there is no doubt that increase the one-time economic input of the system.In the early part of the nodes configuring phasor measurement units make the system can be observed is more economic.So,the research of PMU placement is a very important part in the construction of the Wide Area Measurement System.This paper first introduces the structure of the Wide Area Measurement S ystem and PMU's structure and measuring principle,then on the base of 0-1 integer programming model,it provides the constraint conditions of normal operation and the case of N-1.When considering zero-injection nodes,the linear integer programming will be nonlinear,the defect is solved by modified constraint conditions.In the process of configuration,the traditional optimal configuration approach considers the number of PMU's analog channels is enough,but it is not true,different PMU has different number of analog channels,and number of analog channels in a certain extent determines the price of the PMU.On this basis,the paper puts forward an improved 0-1 integer programming model,according to this model can conclude all of optimization schemes with minimum PMUs and propose an corresponding approach of minimizing analog channels.In the phases of the mult istage optimal configuration,this paper propose virtual connection matrix with the target of reducing the unobservability.Without changing the configuration model it also can use 0-1 integer programming algorithm.At last,by using the approach of minimizing analog channels,the paper gets the configuration scheme in the case of considering zero-injection nodes and the case of without zero-injection nodes,including IEEE-14 Buses System,IEEE-30 Buses System and New England 39 Buses System.Meanwhile,it provides optimal mult istage scheduling of PMU placement of IEEE-14 Buses System and New England 39 Buses System.
