The high-voltage transmission lines are established by the State Grid Corporation of China to achieve long-distance power supply and the rational allocation of power.High-voltage transmission lines have long distance,cover wide areas and carry a large capacity of electricity energy.Thus in the event of failures,there will be a huge economic loss.This paper mainly discussed the measures taken on the failure of high voltage lines from two aspects.The first is to locate the fault points,that is,the study of the methods of precise location of the fault points.The second is to clear the minor failures such as plastic films,kites,heat Balloons,branches and other flammable foreign matters.Thus a drone fault-clearing device was established.The accurate locations of the fault points will be transformed into GPS latitude and longitude coordinates and transmitted to the GPS system of the drones,so that they can automatically locate the fault points.And then the foreign matters will be cleared by using the flamethrowers on the drones.In order to improve the safety,economical efficiency and the reliability of the operations of power systems,and to reduce the manual labor intensity and to improve the working efficiency of the workers,this paper has carried on the following researches on the basis of an extensive reading of domestic and foreign literatures and documents:This dissertation briefly introduced the background of the research,analyzed different kinds of methods of precise fault location,studied the existing fault location methods.And based on these studies,this paper conducted an in-depth research of the traveling wave method for fault location and focused on the commonly used single-ended method and double-ended method.The two methods were analyzed,and the method adopted in this paper was selected.Then,the wavelet theory was further studied,with the focus on discrete wavelet transformation,continuous wavelet transformation and the analysis of the features of the wavelet basis,and the selection principle of the wavelet basis in transient protection is found.Finally,through the use of electromagnetic transient simulation software ATPDraw,the simulation model of the single-phase short-circuit fault of the transmission lines was established,and thesimulation data were obtained.With the programming carried out by the MATLAB software,a wavelet transform was conducted towards the simulated waveform.And the locations of the fault points were calculated with the method of modulus maxima.And the horizontal and longitudinal data are compared by changing the values of the transition resistances and the phase angles of the fault points to obtain the conclusion that the transition resistances and the phase angles of the fault points cannot affect the traveling wave method for fault location.The second part of this dissertation firstly set the development of drone fault-clearing devices as the object,and introduced the advantages of the routing inspection conducted by drones.Then,through the careful selection of most of the drones on the market,DJI S1000 + Drone with eight rotors was chosen to be the base of the entire device.After that,the shape,the material and the fuel of the device were enumerated,and by brainstorming,the optimal choice was discussed and determined.Finally the materials and tools were purchased from the market,and the UVA fault-clearing device was successfully built,and hence completed the established goal.And the results of the accurate positioning in the previous chapter were used to search for the GPS coordinates of the fault point at the location of the equipment in the PMS system,and then the coordinates of fault points were input into the drones,which enabled the drones to hover above the vicinity of the fault point,to accurately find the fault points,and by adjusting the positions of the drones,the flame could be sprayed accurately to remove the foreign matters.These devices were effective and with remarkable practical value,since they reduced the working load of electric workers and improved their working efficiency.They brought about promising economic benefits.This paper not only studied the methods for fault location on high voltage transmission lines but also researched and developed a new working tool to clear the foreign matters on the lines,and profoundly explored the new methods and tools.
