A Comparative Study On Fabric Furnishing Between Chinese And Western Traditional Interior Space

Interior space is the living space that the mankind depends on.Fabric furnishing,as the important component of interior furnishings,frequently contacts with people's everyday life.Fabric furnishing play an important role in interior space environment,influences the comfort of people's life and emotional appeal,and also reflects the style of interior space.In the present,with the improving living standard,people's demands on interior space design are increasingly higher,especially popular pursued for fabric decoration of interior space.In recent years,studies on the relations and functions between fabric decoration and interior space environment are constantly increasing.However,comparative studies on fabric furnishing between Chinese and Western traditional interior space is yet not comprehensive enough.In the development of design diversified and frequent communications in design between Chinese and Western,we must deeply understand each other's traditional cultures and histories for better development of Chinese and Western interior design through each other's reference and integration.This thesis explores differences and similarities of fabric furnishing of interior space,and studies the relations between fabric furnishing and interior space by combining social background and culture trend at different times,whereby to summarize the designing similarities among Chinese and Western traditional fabric furnishing,and also to provide a theoretical reference for the development of modern fabric furnishings design of interior space.Therefore,this research topic has certain theoretical and practical significance.In this thesis,a horizontal comparison method is used to learn fabric furnishing of interior space and its development at different cultures at the same stage by comparing the characteristics of fabric furnishing between China and the West.This thesis is divided into four parts.In introduction part,it defines the concepts and scopes of the study object,and focuses on fabric furnishing of interior palaces from China Ming and Qing Dynasties and French Baroque period.It also elaborates the research status and process and existing problems of fabric furnishing between Chinese and Western traditional interior space.Chapter Two reviews and then clarifies the historical developments of fabric furnishing in different representative periods.Chapter Three emphatically analyzes the differences and similarities of fabric furnishing between Chinese and Western traditional interior space.Taking the Forbidden City of China and Chateau of Versailles of France as the typical example,this thesis analyzes the different forms of fabric furnishing in textures and patterns under different culture background.Chapter Four discusses the influences,development suggestions and good expectations on fabric furnishing of modern interior space in China.Through the comparative study of fabric furnishing of interior space in Chinese and Western,using a critical perspective to look at the development of traditional fabric furnishing of interior space in Chinese and Western,and further improve the design and research of China's fabric furnishing of interior space,to provide theoretical references for its development in the future.
