With the rapid development of China's economy,infrastructure construction has made great progress,and the application of laterally loaded piles in silt foundation is becoming more and more extensive.For the analysis of laterally loaded piles,the p-y curve method is widely used,especially for the analysis of large displacement horizontal loaded piles,the p-y curve method is more advantageous.However,due to the different soil conditions,p-y curves are also different.At present,domestic and foreign scholars studied of p-y curves,mostly concentrated on the sand and soft clay as well as other general soil conditions,for silt,expansive soil and other special soil were less.Therefore,the study on the p-y curve of silty soil foundation is the premise to solve the design and calculation of the laterally loaded piles in silty soil,it has great theoretical value and practical significance.According to the construction of Shandong province Dongming the Yellow River highway bridge generalizes the model of the prototype,and the soil is field soil.According to the geological survey data show that the region of the Yellow River in the middle and lower reaches are the typical geological conditions,and it made by many times of the Yellow River flood.Silt,silty sand and silty clay are the main parts of this area,and the soil state are mainly dense and hard plastic.Based on the geological condition of silty soil in the Yellow River plain,this paper studies the p-y curve of single pile in silt area.The design of the model is described in detail,including the selection of the similarity ratio and the selection of the material,its designed based on a large number of domestic and foreign models of horizontal loaded piles as well as combined with the actual situation of this model test.The model test is based on the measurement of pile strain and pile soil resistance,and the method of pile strain level for pile displacement are analyzed.At the same time,the horizontal displacement of pile body is calculated by comparing several methods of pile body strain,which is more accord with the actual situation.As well,the distribution law of their along the pile depth is discussed.Then based on the data obtained the p-y curve.According to the p-y curve of the test,and compared with the p-y curve thatobtained by the formula of soft clay,which is recommended by Matlock,as is recommended by the current load bearing pile design code in China,and found that the two forms are very close to each other.Based on the formula and the parameters of the soil test,the empirical formula of the p-y curve of the horizontal loaded single pile is established.Then the p-y curve which gained from the test and the p-y curve obtained from the formula are compared and analyzed,and found that they got good agreement.
