The ancient residence in Huizhou is a representative of the traditional architecture of Huizhou,has profound cultural regional characteristics,and full of the cultural accomplishment,aesthetic needs and value orientation of ancient Huizhou people.The main materials of the structures including:brick,wood and stone,and are connected using the method of mortise and tenon connection,which is a very reasonable and skillful way.The style of design is quite unique and full of local characteristics not only for the overall project but also for the plane or space processing and carving art.Furthermore,the location of these residence make them more cultural.All these former residence are marvelous and astonished most architects both in domestic and abroad.However,at present,the Huizhou ancient residential are suffer from serious damage for many reasons.From the protection point of view,it is necessary to take as many factors as possible,such as fatigue and aging of wood cause by the old age,and seismic damage.Tenon and mortise connection method has an irreplaceable role in the ancient dwellings with good seismic performance.Based on this,this paper mainly investigates the strengthening method of tenon joint in Huizhou ancient houses.The main contents and results are as follows:(1)After referred a lot of documents and finished a number of field missions,we elaborated seismic characteristics and the damage forms for dwellings mortice and tenon joints of the Huizhou traditional forms of damage.Besides,we also analyzed its damage mechanism and energy dissipation capabilities.(2)We summarizes several measures for reinforcing the Huizhou ancient dwellings mortise and tenon structure node.(3)The single span wooden frame,which is one part of the ancient Huizhou,has been selected as the object of this paper through the calculation and finite element analysis method,the change of the tenon and mortise joints before and after reinforcement is analyzed.(4)After analyze the stress and displacement results using finite element method,we find that the loading-bearing capacity has significantly improved after the structure reinforced by steel or carbon fiber sheet.The analyzing results in our paper validates the feasibility of reinforcing wooden structures with steel or carbon fiber sheet and can provides value information for the protections of Huizhou traditional buildings.
