In recent years in China,a large number of world-class bridges have been built and great achievements have been made in the field of bridge infrastructure construction.Novelty and complex structure are what bridge structure designers have been striving for,the construction becomes harder and harder and there are more competitors engage in the construction.Therefor,a lot of problems have been aroused,such as the integrity of designing,constructing,managing and team working,which is unavoidable.However,the introduction of BIM technology and its application in construction can act as an effective way to solve the above problems.What's more,our country has been heavily promoting this technology in these years,which has made some progressive achievements in its applications.This paper first has made a brief introduction of BIM technology and Br IM technology,then it has reviewed the planning and development of BIM technology in America,Singapore and Britain as well as its application in China.In this paper,the author has applied it to the construction of tied-arch bridges on Zheng-Wan Railway under the 128 M Nielsen System.With this technology and the assist of the Bentley series software,such as PowerCivil,Navigator,ProStructure and so on,problems of the collision between the internal and external Suspender and that between embedded steel pipe and prestressing pipeline that have been existed during construction have been discovered in advance and thus some construction accidents have been avoided.On the other hand,optimizing the scheming of construction technological explanation,vibrating on site with the application of 3D visualization technology,the BIM technology has successfully got the statistics of works and the generation of roaming videos.Last but not least,the BIM model of this construction has been exported to two finite element software,Midas FEA and Ansys,to be analyzed with refined finite element mechanics,which thus has greatly decreased the heavy work of establishing finite element model repeatedly and actualized the shifts between the 3D visualization of construction of tied-arch bridges on Zheng-Wan Railway under the 128 M Nielsen System and the fem simulative analysis.The application of BIM technology to the construction of tied-arch bridges on Zheng-Wan Railway under the 128 M Nielsen System in this paper has successfully guided the onsite construction,improved the informatization level of onsite construction management as well as avoided some construction accidents.It has been proved that BIM technology has great advantages and it has already got a sound system and a large number of application cases in developed countries.While inside China,the application of BIM technology is still in its infant stage and researcher are still learning and exploring its conception,standards and implementation model.With the promotion of the BIM technology by some related department inside China,we believe that this technology will have far broader prospect of application.And it will be applied to more and more bridge constructions and play a more and more important role in the construction of complex long-span bridges.
