The Study On Traditional Garden Gathering Culture And Its Impact

The traditional Chinese garden is an integrated category and it is valuable in poetry,paintings,aesthetics and economy,etc.From the perspective of landscape gardening,domestic and overseas scholars have already acquired abundant research achievements.Traditional gardens generally have the closed and restrained spatial features,which have a close relation with the feature that scholars pay attention to mind cultivation in traditional Chinese culture.Traditional gardens may be peaceful,far-reaching and implicit in most of time.From the perspective of different landscapes presented in different development periods,they also have obvious remodeling elasticity.Traditional Chinese gardens are external performance of scholars’ mind and spirit.It can be regarded as the internal homeland “materialized”by scholars.Chinese scholars have had a hobby of garden gathering since ancient times.It has been very popular to hold literary gathering in gardens,such as “Western garden gathering” and “Yushan literary party”,which are exampled as garden gathering,widely spreading for a long time.Garden gathering is also an important feature of Chinese gardens.It may be similar to cultural salon in classical western gardens.In the process of traditional garden gathering,some other artistic categories have been also derived and affected,such as garden poetry,landscape paintings,legendary novels and elegance of Kun Opera,etc.It is worth mentioning that ideological emancipation of ancient women also has been presented in the garden gathering obviously.After studying the traditional garden gathering culture,the author briefly summarized the development process of garden gathering as:from “ceremony” to “music”,from banquet of the monarch and his subjects to a cultural activity,from cultural elites to ordinary scholars,it finally forms a phenomenon that every garden may hold garden gathering.Some intellectuals still have been keen on garden gathering until the Republic of China era,thus it is clearly shows that garden gathering occupies a very important position in cultural activities of traditional scholars.The study on traditional garden gathering culture and its influences is good for doing in-depth exploration on humanistic connotations in garden building and interaction between gardens and scholars,showing the profound significance on traditional garden spirit and cultural inheritance.Traditional garden gathering has collaboration of many people,thus gardens maybe are used as communication space,life space,creative space,deduction space and banquet activity space,etc.It has the strong public spatial features.Thus based on it,the relationship with modern landscape architectures can be explored.Meanwhile,in today’s society with rapid development of social economy,to reinforce protection on traditional garden gathering culture heritage also has the important significance.
