In order to ensure the continuously safe and healthy operation of nuclear power plant, it is required to strengthen the supervision of its operating state. However, facing the vast information from monitors in nuclear power plant, it’s not easy to identify the current state fast and accurately due to the complex function and structure of nuclear power plant. Besides,the traditional state classification "breakdown or normality" can’t reflect the exact course of performance decease of systems and components. Thus, it’s necessary to apply health state assessment technology to evaluate the health state of nuclear power plant.Firstly, based on the function module division of nuclear power plant, the heat sink sub-function module was researched to analyze and determine its parameter system in health state monitoring and evaluation. And its hierarchical structure model was established using CAE (Claim-Argument-Evidence) method.Secondly, based on the feature of hierarchical structure model, health state assessment method of each hierarchy was determined. In the paper, gray correlation method was adopted to evaluate the health state of components; a method based on expert knowledge rules was used to fuse states of components to obtain the evaluation of system-level state; analytical hierarchy process was applied to quantify the health state of heat sink sub-function module.Taking Component Cooling Water system in Yangjiang NPP as an example, specific analysis of evaluation and demonstration was conducted.Finally, according to the above research, a health monitoring and assessment system of nuclear power plant has been designed. This research could be the foundation of practice software programming.By the health state assessment technology proposed in the paper, the monitoring and inspection information of nuclear power plant can be used to distinguish and analyze the abnormal state, and results of health state assessment can be obtained to provide supports in decision-making of operation and maintenance.
