With the rapid development of China's economy, the problem of energy shortages and environmental pollution is growing and the importance of energy conservation is increasingly prominent. Under such circumstances, the research on full use of traditional energy sources and the development of new energy has been taken seriously. Among all the new energy, solar,as a green, clean and renewable one, is attracting more and more attention. In China, the conditions for the use of solar energy are pretty good and the applications are gradually increasing. Therefore, this study aims at reducing energy consumption of substation HVAC systems by using solar heating systems instead of traditional heating systems.Firstly, design a solar thermal storage tank HVAC system for the Lee states 500kV substation control building by a study of the factors affecting the intensity of solar radiation and the use of working principle of solar hot water and heat pump. Then simulate the operation of the system by Software TRNSYS and get a series of typical operating data.According to the data, analyse the system operation at different times.Secondly, on the basis of theoretical researches, simulate the solar thermal storage tank system of different device parameters by Software TRNSYS. In addition, optimize the parameters of collector area, installation angle and regenerative start time, based on the simulated data, to get the most appropriate HVAC system for the Lee States substation control building.Finally, study on economic and environmental effects of the solar thermal storage tank system from the perspective of the initial investment and operating costs.
