With the deepening division of social labor as well as the vigorous development of the Internet industry, lower limb handicapped people have been widely and conveniently involved in social contact and collaboration by utilizing the Internet. An increasing number of lower limb disabled people have become valuable human resources. As an important supporting facility for people with lower limb disabilities, manual wheelchair has long been widely used in China. However, mainstream wheelchairs in the existing market are monotonous in appearance and style and fuzzy in user group identification. By satisfying the preferences of people from all ages with the same appearance and type, traditional manual wheelchairs have been far from meeting the requirements of young people. Besides, the existing manual wheelchairs are deficient in terms of comfort level, the components of which are far from being comfortably handled, which can only meet daily basic functional requirements. With ergonomics theory as the basis, human anatomy, aesthetics and colorology as assistant theories, the paper is aimed at innovating manual wheelchair in terms of comfort level and shape.Firstly, this paper investigates the manual wheelchair brands in the existing market and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of typical products. Then the man-machine system environment of the wheelchair is analyzed, based on which to conclude 14 possible problems that may arise in the system environment of manual wheelchairs. It is based on the 14 questions that the man-machine system questionnaire is designed. The questionnaire is spread either by paper or by internet. After data processing of the feedback, weight of the user comfort for each question is obtained. There are eventually nine problems in an urgent need to be improved.Secondly, the paper has classified the 9 problems that need to be improved into 4 categories according to their positions in a wheelchair. Among which five are related to hands, in correspondence to man-machine interface of the wheelchair, and two questions related to human buttocks and lower limbs, in correspondence to wheelchair seat, one to human spine, corresponding to wheelchair back, and the last one to integrated problem, corresponding to tires and holder of the wheelchair. The paper is guided by the theory of human anatomy and ergonomic, and the above four types of problems have been improved and optimized. Finally, the paper conducts an analysis on the overall size and some key dimensions of the wheelchair, so as to find the applicable product size and select the appropriate body percentile data and function corrections, concluding the specific values. As a result, the new design has improved the appearance of existing manual wheelchairs based on these sizes, make it more in line with the paper set the age of 20-40 people with lower extremity user preferences.
