The precision-guided weapons have occupied an important position in the modern battlefield for its high fighting efficiency, high hitting accuracy, and extended firing range. As one of the precision-guided system, the millimeter-wave(MMW)radar seeker has been widely used in application.First, the technical characteristic, advantage, and development tendency of the MMW radar seeker are introduced. With this basis, combined with the requirement of air-to-ground guided missile, the design scheme of wideband MMW radar seeker is provided and demonstrated in this paper.Based on the analysis of pulsed stepped-frequency signal and linear frequency modulation signal, the wideband MMW radar seeker is designed based on stepped-frequency chirp signal system, which facilitates an extended detection range and an improved range resolution.According to the background of practical project application, the design, simulation, and implementation of radar seeker system is provided.Specifically, the preliminary design scheme is presented in accord with the functional and performance indexes of sub-systems.Then the main system parameters are investigated and the corresponding parameter estimation method is studied.Besides, the key technologies of signal processing for stepped-frequency radar system are studied, including the target extraction algorithm and motion compensation algorithm, etc. And the relative engineering implementation methods are provided for the key signal processing algorithms.Finally,out-field experiments are conducted with the developed experimental prototype of the designed stepped-frequency radar seeker. The experimental results based on the measured-data demonstrate the feasibility of the presented design scheme and the effectiveness of engineering implementation algorithms.
