Experimental study is performed on the temperature effects of ER8C wheel steel rim and web materials. Microstructures of the rim and web materials are explored by metallurgical observations. A gradual soften phenomena as temperature increasing is revealed by tests of thirteen smooth specimens between -60 ? and 60 ? for the rim material. A quantity temperature effect law is forwarded by the treatment of test data. And corresponding fatigue damage behaviour is revealed by a fracture observation. Cause is primarily revealed by treatment on test data of three specimens and their fracture surface observation. Under same time, significant cyclic hardening under below zero degree and cyclic softening are observed by test results of threeteen web specimens between -60? and 60?. A quantity temperature effect law is forwarded by the treatment of test data. And corresponding fatigue damage behaviour is revealed by a fracture observation ? A guidance can be provided for a correct fatigue stress calculation under different temperature conditions for the wheel rim and web structures.
