Based On The Ecological Concept Landscape Restoration And Update Of Funan River In Chengdu

Nowdays, haze, water pollution and other environmental problems have ouccured as Chengdu is stepping into the process of construction of 'National Central City'. The city's continuous expansion was also followed by a series of ecological problems, such as water shortages, water pollution and water ecological damage. Funan River, the mother River of Chengdu which near the city center with the highest population, is facing the most serious human disturbance. Recently government has put more and more efforts to promote the construction of aquatic ecological civilization in Chengdu. On the basis of the theory of aquatic ecology, the waterfront restoration and renovation of the Funan River, the enhancement of carrying capacity of the aquatic environment, the improvement of quality of the citizens and the promotion of establishment of the water security system in Chengdu will not only provide a solid guarantee for sustaninable development of economy and society, but also give a pratical reference for other river corridor with the same problem.Firstly, we performed comparative analsis for the resullts and cases of waterfront landscape restoration and regeneration reported recently at home and abroad depending on the landscape ecology, restoration ecology and other related basic theory, and summarized the research trends in this field. Secondly, in oreder to obtained the first-hand data, we investigate the reserarch area and visit the several relevant institutions. Considering extant problems, the core factor was extracted and the qualitative and quantitative analysis were conducted. Afterwards, we summaried the problems and reasons left by comprehensive improvement of water environment for Funan River in 1992 in terms of landscape,humanities and economy. Finally, combined with the practice of design project (Central city of Chengdu "livable waterfront" municipal demonstration project), the author elaborated a specific of practicable ecological restoration scheme according to three aspects including landscape ecology, human ecology and economic ecology. The actual situation and native characteristic were taken into this scenario.The main object of this research is the Funan River Basin wthin the Second Ring Road of Chengdu(The covering range takes Tianfu Square as center and has the radium of 4.5 Km),which is the core of the Funan River and flows through the most densely populated central area of Chengdu. The results of this universal and representative research coulde be summarized into two aspects: On the one hand, we analyzed the present problems and found out its reasons of the waterfront landscape in Chengdu. On the other hand, based on a series of basic theories including landscape ecology, restoration ecology and some emerging theories such as "sponge city" and sustainable development, we put forward some specitfic strategic approaches to construct the Funan River Riverside Corridor. We hope the Funan River, the mother river of Chengdu carring the city memory over thousands of years, could be revived and updated. We also hope our results can provide an important reference for these researchs about the restoration and update of urban river waterfront landscape during the construction of water ecological civilization.
