Gas insulated switchgear is widely used in substation because of benefits such as small area, etc., and its safe operation is very important to the normal life order and social economy. This thesis has made a systematic and thorough research on the development of the high frequency detection device, the high frequency signal processing system and the field application, based on the analysis of the current status of the research on partial discharge detection of GIS equipment. This thesis includes the following primary contents:(1) The structure and types of fault prone in GIS equipment were analyzed in Chapter 2. The propagation procedure of partial discharge(PD) ultra-high-frequency(UHF) electromagnetic wave signal was located. And the detection requirements and solutions of PD UHF detection was proposed. Finally, the UHF microstrip antenna was optimized by Ansoft HFSS software and the PD UHF detection hardware systems were displayed.(2) The general frame of the software was put forward, using the unified modeling language, through the establishment of various types, and the associations between classes, class and object interaction between different equipment to establish GIS signal processing system platform. The construction scheme of the software system was proposed based on data acquisition and transmission, diagnosis and evaluation, database and information display. It realized the function of data acquisition, data processing, monitoring and early warning and risk assessment etc..(3) A PD UHF signal test platform was built in the laboratory and the artificial insulation defect was design. The verification test was carried out for PD UHF detection system. The results show that the system can effectively detect PD UHF electromagnetic wave signal. And this thesis putted forward some matters needing attention in the operation and maintenance of substation. Finally, the PD UHF live testing experiments were located on the field GIS, the results show that the proposed method can achieve on-line detection operation of GIS equipment.
