As China’s comprehensive national power keeps increasing and its strategic blueprint of scientific research and military aerospace development keeps expanding,BeiDou Navigation Satellites,FengYun meteorological satellites and many other ones used by military and civilians are quickly seizing and occupying space in earthorbit.Correspondingly,it requires higher efficiency and higher accuracy to machine the components in satellites,as the past traditional methods to machine satellites housing by CNC milling and boring machine has not been able to satisfy the requirements on high accuracy and shorter R&D time.To meet such demand,this paper develops a special equipment,with high precision,high spindle speed,high linear moving rate,for quick inspection on satellite housing and micro correction on the out-of-tolerance part.Based on the analysis of the precision,material and structure of machined components,this paper defines the overall structural design and technical specifications of the machine tool and followed the assembly design and calculation on transmission system.Considering the low accuracy and low stability in the structure of legacy machine ram,it improves the design on ram feeding support,ram unloading device and conducted finite element analysis against three different working scenarios.It improves the ram moving accuracy by applying column dualscrew compensation technology and ram dual-motor feeding backlash-free technology.By studying on machining process of ram,the key component of the machine tool,the paper proposes a process flow to ensure the machining accuracy of the components.Meanwhile,during the assembling process,in order to satisfy the requirements on high precision and high stability of machine,it studies the bed precision adjustment,column assembly precision adjustment,headstock moving presion.It solves the tolerance and instability issues of bed assembly by scraping adjustable blocks under bed assembly and precision control.It solves the tolerance issue of comprehensive precision between column and headstock assemblies by preforming and counter-deformation machining column.It verifies the finite element analysis result by running simulation experiments on headstock moving precisions.After the completion of installation and commissioning of the whole machine,the machine has been tested on mechanical precisions,positioning precisions,repetitive positioning precisions,reverse difference and machining accuracy.Among 18 items of mechanical precision specifications,there are 13 items of tested results 20% to 50% better than the ones regulated in National Standard.All positioning precisions,repetitive positioning precisions,and reverse difference are 60% better than the ones regulated in National Standard.
