| Electromagnetic relay is an important electronic component used to transmit signal,switch electrical load and complete power distribution.It is widely used in many fields like aerospace,defense weapons,industrial control,and power control equipment,and so on.The quality and the reliability of electromagnetic relay directly affect the function of the whole system,as well as their reliability and safety.Electromagnetic relay in switching the load process will inevitably produce arc.The arc with extremely high temperature can cause contact surface ablation,as well as contact deteriorated.To ensure both reliabililty of the relay for make and break process and reliability of the system,research on electromagnetic relay arcing characteristic is the foundation.Arcing time is one of the main parameters characterizing the arc characteristics.On the same conditions that the contact material and the contact gap are all the same,the contact erosion is proportion to arc energy generated during electromagnetic relay making and breaking loads.Arcing time and arcing voltage of a relay is a species facilitate monitoring of the way,reflecting the process of switching contacts arc energy situation,it can be used to analyze the relay switching the load capacity and lifetime reliability.This paper collects domestic and foreign research data and results in the relay arcing and arcing time,Analysis the contributing factors to arcing time,such as load voltage,load current,contact material,contact breakaway velocity,contact pressure,relay loop voltage suppress electric circuit,electromagnetic force matching status,make and break load times,gas pressure.Presents a calculate method of relay’s arc burning time under certain conditions.On this basis,we select typical electromagnetic relay to measure arc duration on different load voltage,current,contact material,breaking speed,contact pressure,transient suppression circuit,electromagnetic force matching status,make and break load times,and gas pressure.And the test datas of arc duration are analyzed.This work has accumulated data for the research,production and improment of relay.According to the needs during research and production of electromagnetic relays,the arc duration theory and test data analysis are applied to engineering practice.For power electromagnetic relay failed to complete the rated load test under vacuum conditions,study of the DC load arc duration under high vacuum(pressure less than 1×10-7Pa)conditions is carried out,by measuring the relay arc duration under low pressure and vacuum conditions,recognizing the arc duration when switch DC load under vacuum conditions is longer than normal pressure condition for single breakpoint 28 Vd.c.electromagnetic relay,especially when load current exceeds 8A.And determine the delay’s load-switching capability under high vacuum environment through the arcing time measure.Demonstrated the improvement can be taken to increase the DC load switching ability at low pressure and vacuum conditions.For one cubic inch,three groups 28V/25 A electromagnetic relay make and break rating load times cann’t match the requirement,the simulation analysis and design improvement are carried out.It reduces relay‘s arcing time and the contact heat,meet product life requirements and reach the design improvement purposes. |
