Toroidal drives have large speed ratio,compact structure and high operating efficiency,etc.A permanent magnetic toroidal drive with half stator is proposed that avoids noise and mechanical vibrations.For the drive,a large speed ratio and no lubrication oil usage can be realized simultaneously.In this paper,3D design,finite element stress and magnetic field analysis,output torque and efficiency analysis,the secondary visualization development and the optimal design are done.A model machine is produced by which the relative parameters are measured.3D design and motion simulation of permanent magnetic toroidal drive with half stator are done.Finite element stress model of the drive based on ANSYS Workbench is created.The result shows that stress in the drive is substantially decreased owing to meshing elements are replaced by magnetic forces that achieve meshing without contact.The output torque equation of permanent magnetic toroidal drive with half stator is given,and its changes along with the system parameters are investigated.Finite element magnetic field model of the drive based on ANSYS Maxwell is created.The result shows that the simulation output torque of the drive is near to calculated values.Besides,from efficiency analysis of bearing and motor,the efficiency of the drive system are calculated.To meet the different needs of the system parameters of users,the secondary visualization development of permanent magnetic toroidal drive with half stator based on Siemens NX 10.0 and Microsoft Visio Studio 2013 is done.For the drive,the optimal design is investigated,the results show that the size of the drive is reduced by 40.09% and the output torque is increased by 183.87% after the optimal design.A model machine is produced by which output torque and speed fluctuation are measured.Based on analysis of test data,two improved model machine are produced.The results show that increasing the number of meshing teeth,the load-carrying ability of the drive system can be enhanced and the speed fluctuation can be reduced.The measured torque of the improved model machine is near to calculated values which illustrate the calculated results in this paper.
