Distribution network is the most close to the user's part and plays a vital role in the power system. The planning of distribution network should be scientific, economic and reasonable.This guarantees the rationality of the power grid renovation, and also can ensure the safety of the power system at run time, economic and reliable. Distribution network planning is refers to forecast the load of all kinds of situation during the planning period and according to the existing situation of existing network get the optimal distribution network planning. In addition to meet the power supply reliability and safety, but also the economy optimal,that's the construction cost and operation cost minimum. The power transmission from power plant is the main purpose of wire in the electric power transmission and distribution system. The choice of wire to the influence of power quality such as the voltage level is very obvious.Transmission and distribution system can security, economic, reliable and reasonable operation is closely related to the choice of wire specifications.In order to guide wire feeder selection plan, first on the basis of the economy, the load-cost curve and economy load distance expression are deduced under the various typical load distribution on overhead lines and cable as an example, and the various factors affecting the curve are analyzed in-depth. For typical load distribution of the main line and branch line planning, the wire types can be chosen and the voltage drop can be checked according to the curve and economy load distance directly.As for the situations with load untypically distributed, a particle swarm optimization(PSO)based approach is put forward to work out the optimal planning of feeder conductors, in which,the economical index under normal operation is used as the objective function and the voltage deviation still within the limitation in the most unfavorable situation is used as the constraint.On the basis of these theories,several typical programming examples are given in this paper, the planning results show that the proposed method is feasible and effective.
