| China is growing rapidly towards a period of urbanization, which has led to the increasing use of urban land as well as the great change of the new generation of children’s growth environment and space. Children’s outdoor activities for their growth are of great significance. Because of the change of social environment, the child outdoor activity space are mostly in the residential area. Thus, the planning and design of outdoor activities space in residential district is a pressing issue for the growth of Chinese children. The form of residential areas and the construction of high-rise residential areas are changing continuously, but research of the outdoor activities space in these area is relatively scarce. The main contents of this research include :(1) We first analyze the domestic and foreign research situation, in particular, compare Japan, Singapore’s high-rise residential area construction research process with China to find out the worth learning ideas and construction examples and extract experiences. Subsequently, using the dwelling of science as the theoretical basis, and synthesizing children’s behavior, psychology and other related scientific knowledge, we study the theory of child outdoor activity space in living area.(2) This paper also focuses on investigating and analyzing the influence of the real environmental factors on the children’s outdoor games, according to the change of the living style of high level. This research combines multi-area macroscopic research and single area microscopic research on the main research object of High-rise residential area in Nanjing. Multi-area macroscopic research is mainly to extract environmental factors which affect children activities in the high-rise residential outdoor activity space, based on the overall grasp of general characteristics of Nanjing City high-rise residential outdoor activity space. Single area research is to refine how high-rise residential affects children activities according to the quantitative analysis of the environmental factors which affects children activities.(3) In this research, we choose twelve residential zones as the macroscopic areas to analyze and summarize the general characteristics of children outdoor activity space in high-rise residential areas. We also choose two zones as the microscopic areas to analyze the environmental factors in high-rise residential areas which affect children activities. We also use data analysis to reveal the negative effects and the functional rules to children activities from high-rising of the residential areas.(4) This research also investigates and surveys on the existing and ideal children activity space using the mental map method and behavior tracing method. Adopting the concept of environmental affordance to classify the environmental factors in standard and levels, we ascertain various elements of child outdoor activity space planning and design. In addition, this research uses various research methods, including photographing, questionnaire survey, in-depth observation and communication. This paper aims to eliminate negative impact on children’s activity from the high-rise residential area and improve children living environment and space for outdoor activities quality from the aspects of planning and design. We also hope to enlighten research on children and provide more abundant theoretical basis for future research. |
