Jinping Hydropower Station?is a controlled power station in the Yalong River valley, The hyperbolic arch dam will be built up to 305 meters.The terrain a-nd geological conditions of the dam area is complicated, the relative elevation is about 1000-1700 meters, the slope is about 50 degrees to 90 degrees,The security and stability of spandrel trough is crucial. There will be a detailed analysis on the stability of left spandrel groove in this paper, First of all,the ba-sic characteristics of geological environment on Jinping Hydropower Station Dam Area is discussed, Dam Area which called Jinpingshan area has the faults mo-re development. Then an indepth analysis on the basic features of the dam valle-y slope is made. Put the focused on EL.1635 m, EL.1675 m, EL.1715 m, EL.1755-m these four typical pr-ofiles, a spandrel groove slope ratio and slope stability assessment method is given:Numerical simulation and limit equilibrium. In nume-rical simulation, using the 2D-? finite element software which is made by Japan-ese soft brain development Ltd., Divert input data into the finite element data a-s:drawn excavation profile deformation, load, stress distribution, displacement di-stribution, stress contours and destruction proximity, and other important design parameters indicators. Limit balance law is used at the block where slope may sl-ip in the natural state, heavy rains, earthquakes, Rainstorm plus seismic stability of the condition. Finally, the comprehensive analysis and evaluation on stability of all the profile, and get the main conclusions and recommendations.Finally, C-ombined with the dam safety monitoring results of Jinping Hydropower Station?,it has proved that the analysis method is correct,and to some extent, i-n view of the current construction of high arch dam in the western regi-on of China, this paper can not only verify the Jinping Hydropower Statio-n?but also provide reference for similar projects in the future.
