Based on several experiments, such as theoretical research, scene simulation, experimental design, measurement analysis and evaluation analysis, this paper describes the change of driver's visual attention model under the condition of thick haze and fog.It is proposed for the first time that the demand corresponds to three visual acuities(edge sharpness, stereoacuity, color sharpness). The visual acuity can be quantified by luminance contrast. The paper explores the correlation between the two luminance contrast indexes and the recognition degree of the target area, and basically build the road lighting design steps to improve road safety under the condition of thick haze and fog.According to the research trends, primary work and conclusions of the paper are listed as follows:1.Driver's visual attention model is transfromed into three aspects under the condition of thick haze and fog: Firstly, whether there are obstacles ahead, which means whether or not drivers can see;Seconfly, relative position to front obstacles, which means relative approximation or detachment;Thirdly, relative position between vehicle and road edge, which means the recognition of edge markers. These three requirements are corresponding to edge sharpness, stereoacuity and color sharpness.Luminance contrast is divided into two aspects: panel luminance contrast and edge luminance contrast which both evaluate different road lighting strategies.2.On the basis of visibility as the road visual evaluation index, visibility and luminance contrast are positively correlated. After analyzing the data,it is found that the contrast of transverse road lighting is the best, which means it is easier to identify the front target profile. At the same time,it improves the road inductivity. As a result, the transverse road lighting is the best to improve safety under the condition of thick haze and fog.Novelties for this paper is as follows.1.The paper describes that the driver's visual attention model corresponds to three visual acuities under the condition of thick haze and fog.For the first time, visual acuity can be quantified to evaluate road lighting strategy by using the concepts of luminance contrast and visibility. The whole device model and experimental method are designed, and the experimental conditions are improved close to the actual road conditions as far as possible. The application of visual acuity quantification method in experimental verification confirms the reliability of theory.2.The paper provides a solid theoretical and experimental basis for road lighting to improve visibility under the condition of thick haze and fog, provides technical data for reasonable application of LED light to road lighting, provides the experimental basis for the design, construction and acceptance relevant specification of street lamps under the condition of thick haze and fog.
