Single photon detection is a new technology based on materials science, optoelectronics and digital signal processing. It has been widely used in the fields of radiation detection,bio-luminescence,quantum key, high speed detection and so on.In this paper, the dose detector is a device for measuring nuclear radiation by using the principle of photo-luminescence.It is mainly composed of four parts: collection and transmission unit, excitation unit, detection unit and Photon counting unit. The principle of optical radiation dose detection system: The received ray energy is stored by ?-Al2O3:C crystal, and then converts the fluorescence emitted by the dose element into an electrical signal by the photo-multiplier.Pulse recognition and digital counting techniques have been used successively to identify and extract the weak signals.Based on the linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity and the radiation dose, the environmental radiation can be detected. The main contents of this paper are as follows: Firstly, based on the principle of optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)and single photon counting,PMT is selected as the photon detector, and the 532 nm green laser is used as the core device of the excitation module. Then, according to the technical indicators, the model of each unit is determined. We have developed a unique transmission cable through the Zemax software simulation and many experiments, and finally built a stable radiation dose detection system, its performance meets the design requirements.
