The tubulars are widely used in the bridge,steel structure buildings and ocean platforms by virtue of advantages like light weight and highstrength,isotropic and appeaing design.Joints are an essential component of tube structure.As a consequence,the research for the tubular-joint has a very significant value.The mechanicial properties of tubular joints under static load has been studied,which is becoming more and more mature.While,tubular structures are also exposed to collision accidents such as earthquake,impact,explosion.Hence,investigation of impact performance has been foused on by more and more researchers.In this paper,in order to study the mechanicial properties and failure mode of tubular K-joints,the finite element software ABAQUS would be used to investigate impact performance behaviour of tubular K-joint.The main contributions are listed as follows:1.Verification of the finite element model.The model of the tubular joints are built by using finite element software.Compared with the displacement time history curve and impact force time history curve,the reliability of the FE model is verified.Comparison results show that the FE models results are in great agreement with experimental results,thus proving the validity of the FE model and providing the confitions for parameter analysis.2.Parameter analysis.The model of the tubular K-joints in different parameters are built by using FE software ABAQUS.The parameters include ?,that is,the ratio of diameter between brace and chord.?,is the ratio between the length and diameter of chord.?,is the ratio between diameter and thickness of chord.?y represents the yield strength of steel.?,is the ratio of thickness between brace and chord.M,is the quality of the hammer.?,is the angle between brace and chord,and g,is the distance between brace and chord.The impact performance behaviour,displancement influences and the influence rules of failure modes have been investigated by means of different value of different parameters.3.The study of practical calculation method.The top displacement and the maximum impact force of tubular K-joints are analyzed by means of quatitive FE results.1stOpt software was applied to deduce the relation between displacement and parameter,and deduce the relation between maximum impact and displacement.In the end,the accuracy of the proposed formulae was justified by experimental results.
