With the development and maturity of walk theory abroad,walk theory has also been paid large attention to in the mainland of china recently.People's daily life of walking and walkability of streets are paid attention to again,and it tends to be more and more nowadays.The walkability in domestic cities still contains lots of problems when comparing with mature urban construction and humanistic-caring built infrastructures abroad,Therefore,researching work on walkability based on investigation of target places and optimizing-strategy is meaningful and of great significance.This paper is aimed at reviewing many research achievements and outcomes not only abroad but also in the domestic,which also shows the research directions in our professional field.This paper is ready to make clear definition of walkability again and build up an evaluation system for it in quantitative ways,and this paper is ready to carry out field research of walkability conclusion in the Beijing Road's commercial and cultural walking street blocks in Guangzhou city under the dimension of built pedestrian environment.This paper studies the relative outputs and theories in domestic and abroad firstly,then consult with the paper named “The Building of Comprehensive Evaluation Framework Centering Walkability in Zhujiang New Town Core Area and the Quantitative Studies of its Mechanism of Action” by Zhang qi,so that we can retrospect the definition of the so called walkability,evaluation system,evaluation methods and the details among them.And the most important work is to find out the pedestrian environment's composite indexes under the dimension of built pedestrian environment.This paper put forward new analysising method on the basis of the former method,and carry on the comparison of different methods during subsequent processing.This paper is divided into five parts altogether with five chapters.The first part is the introduction of walkability.The second part is about theoretical overview of walkability including evaluation method,evaluation framework,origin and foundation of the walkability theories and so on.The third part is about elaborating the general situation of the Beijing road's commercial and cultural walking street blocks,framing the framework of evaluation system relatively.Then we will build up a set of the pedestrian environment's indexes and make an analysis and progress like weight's distribution of these indexes so that we can optimize the set to get a final one,all the work indicated above would be finished in chapter four.The last but not the least,we will get measured results of the walkability of our target districts in the chapter five following with measured data analysis,data calculation,methods application and comparison.In the end,optimal suggestion will be put up.
