Intelligent Vehicle Infrastructure Cooperative System(i-VICS) is acknowledged as of the next generation of Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS), which integrates advanced communication, sensing and information processing technologies. I-VICS enhances the scope, accuracy, efficiency and timeliness of ITS by effective coordination among traffic participants, vehicles, infrastructures and the environment. At present, domestic and foreign scholars mainly focus on the standard establishment, communication protocols and technologies, traffic safety and efficiency oriented applications. The communication performance of i-VICS still needs further research, especially taking channel fading models into consideration. This dissertation focuses on the communication performance of different V2V/V2 I networks based on different communication technologies. The communication performance is analyzed and evaluated based on the wireless channel fading models. The research includes the following four parts.Firstly, this dissertation proposes an analysis framework of communication performance in i-VICS based on the channel fading models, including the communication framework, basic communication modes and the performance evaluation indexes. The spatial distribution of vehicles, the channel fading models and the communication forwarding models are also analyzed based on the basic communication modes.Second, a communication simulation platform based on the channel fading models is built. The platform allows to define different channel fading models and simulation scenarios, and realizes the dynamic visualization of the simulation process as well as effective data processing.Thirdly, in order to verify the communication effect of DSRC in real-world environment, this paper presents a comparison between measured DSRC performance obtained through real-world tests in Beijing Fourth Ring Road and the simulation data.Besides, this paper also applies a simulation work to verify the effectiveness of WiFi in the mobile scene of i-VICS. The simulation results of WiFi are compared to those of DSRC.Finally, a comparative analysis of IEEE 802.11 p and IEEE 802.11 a is carried out.Based on the results, research proposes a low-cost DSRC solution based on IEEE802.11 a with both software and hardware. The performance of the designed module is thoroughly measured, which is not lower than that of those high-cost solutions.
