The arrival and departure times of trains are determined by the timetable which can decide the efficiency of the urban railway transit network. This paper study the timetable optimization problem based on the dynamic passenger demand, and the following lists the contents of the study.(1)This paper study the characters of the passengers, features of their trip, and the sensitiveness to number of transfers and congestion in the trains which are the basic for formulating the timetable optimization model in urban railway transit network.(2)This paper proposes the single line timetable optimization model which consider the skip-stop pattern and dynamic passenger demand. The case study of Batong Line is used to test the proposed model. At the same time, the optimized timetable under skip-stop pattern is compared with the optimized timetable under allstop pattern. The results show the advantage of the optimized timetable under skip-stop pattern and the limit of the skip-stop pattern.(3)This paper proposes the network timetable optimization model which consider the static path choice and dynamic passenger demand. The case study of Beijing Subway Network is used to test the proposed model. At the same time, the effect of adjustments of operational parameters on optimized results is analyzed which offer the operator new methods to improve the service efficiency, for example improve the adjustments of operational parameters by updating the signal and communication device.(4)This paper proposes the network timetable optimization model which consider the dynamic path choice and dynamic passenger demand. The case study of Bejing Subway Network is used to test the proposed model. The optimized results under dynamic path choice are compared with the optimized results under static path choice which points out that the published timetable is an effective method which can reduce passenger total travel time further.
