Exploration On Memorial Hall Of Cemetery Design For Citizens

City expansion and urban population explosion,come with the increase of the demands for all kinds of public service facilities.As a public facility for burying dead people intensely,the demand for cemetery is increasing both on quality and quantity.Cemetery Memorial Hall is the core of the cemetery’s function and spirit service,which plays an important role to the cemetery’s spirit connotation and service quality.But now,the cemetery memorial buildings,especially those for ordinary citizens,attract limited attention from the society.In the fields of site selection,space composition,ambience create,and spirit communication,there are still a lot to be focus on.In this research,I attempt to find a systemic way for the design of cemetery memorial halls for ordinary citizens,by analyzing predecessors’ researches and designs,including some related subjects.Then I will take the Lingxin Mountain Hall,which located in Huairou District of Beijing,as an example,to explore the specific method of cemetery memorial hall design.This research will analyze the history and future direction of the funeral industry in our country,combining with an actual project,respectively from the following 3 aspects: cemetery planning and site selection for memorial halls;function and space organization of cemetery memorial buildings;characteristics of memorial space and methods to create a memorial atmosphere,to explore deeply in this subject,from macro to micro,from the overall to local.Finally I will give an opinion for the future of our country’s cemetery planning and the difficulties to come across.I hope this research will attract more attention to the development of cemeteries and the memorial halls for citizens.
