Space steel pipe truss structure,with the advantages of excellent mechanical performance,light weight,large span,convenient installation,concise appearance,great architectural style expression,had been more and more frequently used in a se-ries of buildings like large stadiums,transportation facilities,exhibition centers which had higher level of requirements on space,shape and seismic performance.Architects of the new generation kept pursuing for the breakthroughs and innovations on the ar-chitectural appearances,architectural functions,architectural features,while struc-tural engineers of the new generation kept pursuing for the researches and explora-tions on the structural forms,mechanical characteristics,material properties.During this process,a lot of space irregular structures within a large number of space steel pipe truss structures had been designed and stood up on the ground.In this paper,a nonlinear elasto-plastic time history analysis had been undertaken on the CRRC Culture Centre of Science and Technology to study the dynamic re-sponse of the steel pipe truss structure of this elliptical bowl shape,under the rare earthquakes.The specific work was introduced in the following paragragh:(1)Introducing the basic concepts,characteristics and application of space steel truss structure,as well as the basic concepts and developing history of the methods of structural seismic analysis.(2)Collecting and sorting the relevant literatures to introduce the basic theory of the elasto-plastic time history analysis method,and introduce the principles and methods of selecting suitable seismic wave for analysis.(3)Establishing the elasto-plastic model of the building in SAP2000 of the CRRC Culture Centre of Science and Technology,selecting and inputting two groups of natural seismic waves as well as a group of artificial seismic waves into this model according to the requirements of seismic code,which were loaded within three di-mensions while four analysis cases were set for each group depending on the different inputting directions of the horizontal waves with the consideration of the irregularity of the shape and inner formation of the structure,at the same time,carrying out the nonlinear elasto-plastic time history analysis on this model,and then carrying out a failure analysis to study the seismic response and failure position of the structure under 7 degree(0.15 g)rare earthquakes.(5)Establishing a standard elliptical bowl-shaped steel pipe truss model with a completely symmetrical shape which was excluded all the irregular factors,and es-tablishing a standard elliptical barrel-shaped steel pipe truss model with upright three-pipe truss column base on the bowl-shaped one,and conducting a contrastive seismic analysis on this two models to study the influence of the bending of the three-pipe truss column on the rigidity,mechanical feature and seismic performance of these two models.
