The compression resistance of cement material is good while the tensile performance of it is poor.In order to improve this situation,composite which have better performance was prepared by the means of incorporating reinforcements which have excellent tensile strength into cement material.Among all of the reinforcements,natural fibers were favored for their good environmental protection features which include low power consumption and reproducibility.When natural fiber/cement material is used in engineering practice,it will be used for preparation of samples with different scantlings,and these samples will be in the vibration environment with different frequencies.Therefore,mechanical property of samples is affected by the effects of gauge length and strain rate on mechanical property of composite,while mechanical property of composite is affected by the mechanical property of components and the bond property among them.Furthermore,on account of the alkali surroundings of cement matrix specifically,the reinforcing effect of natural fiber under this condition will be affected by its durability,and mechanical properties of composite will be affected further.As the familiar natural fiber crop,jute is of extensive distribution and low cost,and have enormous potentiality for engineering application,so studies of jute reinforced cement matrix composite were noticeable.Related scholars have made deep research on mechanical property of chopped jute fiber/cement matrix,while less attention has been paid to incorporate jute yarn into cement.Jute yarn drew wide attention especially for scholars engaged in textile area,and they have made a lot of research on it,but there are still some shortage in these researches for the engineering application of jute yarn.Therefore,following aspects were concentrated in present work,hoping to provide a reference for the study of mechanical property and engineering application of jute yarn/cement matrix.(1)The effects of gauge length and strain rate on tensile behavior of jute yarns were investigated by the tensile test of jute yarns with different gauge lengths and strain rates.(2)The durability of jute yarns in different corrosion environment were investigated by the tensile test of jute yarns with different corrosive treatment.(3)The effect of embedded depth on bond property between jute yarn and cement matrix was investigated by the pull-out test of jute yarns with different embedded depths from the cement matrix.
