Automobiles Lightweight is increasingly valued by automotive companies at home and abroad.The application of composite materials is one of the important means of lightweighting.Front-end modules are typical examples of composite materials used in automotive structural parts.It is an inevitable trend for the front-end frame to replace the sheet metal radiator frame to achieve lightweight.It is of great significance to study the technologies of the front-end module and the front-end frame.The main work of the paper is as follows:(1)To understand the application and development of glass fiber reinforced materials,to understand the factors affecting the material production process and material properties,and to select the materials for the front end frame of the project through technical exchanges with material suppliers and considering properties,processes,and costs.(2)Analyzes the assembly process of the front-end module,the key structure of the four key components that affect the design of the front-end module,and the selection of the front-end frame cross-section to realize the lightweight,integrated,and modular design of the front-end module.In the end,the weight ratio of the front-end frame to the sheet-metal structural parts is 42%.At the same time,the standardized interfaces of multiple key parts were designed.In conjunction with the vehicle development process,a rapid design method and process for front-end modules were proposed.Under the premise of ensuring product reliability,the development efficiency was increased and the risks were reduced.(3)Performance analysis and structure optimization of front-end modules.According to the requirements of the vehicle,the sub-system’s performance indicators are decomposed,and the structure is redesigned and optimized according to the analysis results.Focused on optimizing the hood lock area and the installation point under the radiator,summed up the common performance problems of the front-end module,analyzed the root cause,pointed out the optimization direction,and provided reference experience for subsequent project development.
