The importance of reducing vehicle's consumption and emission increases with fossil energy decreasing and the need of better environment.China has a large amount of vehicles and the urbanization dramatically accelerates its increase.That situation makes vehicle's consumption and emission pollution worse.Though advanced vehicle technology acquires high driving efficiency,there is no proper technology to make the best of braking energy which will remarkably improve fuel economy.So kinetic energy recovery system(KERS)becomes a research focus and developed fast.Different kinds of KERS are illustrated in this thesis.Components and principle of VOLVO KERS is given to clarify the advantages and disadvantages of that system.TRIZ theory is used on the analyses of VOLVO KERS and scheme designing,then optimized functional scheme and structural scheme is designed especially for city vehicles.On the basis of optimized structural scheme,flywheel-motor module and power train are designed to achieve optimum performances.The flywheel-motor module design is according to coordination of flywheel function and motor function.The power train design bases on the relation between system efficiency and transmission ratios of IVT and gear train.Stress and critical speed in given base on simulations on Ansys Workbench to verify the design.The motor characteristic is determined and motor's high efficiency range is given,KERS actuating property is determined.
