With the rapid development of Chinese nuclear power industry, nuclear waste was produced in abundance, therefore the problem of nuclear waste disposal need to be resolved.Deep geological disposal method is widely accepted internationally for the present,in which highly radioactive nuclear waste is sealed and stored in a special disposal repository hundreds of meters underground. However, the nuclear waste may be broken by crustal movements due to the long period of decay,so the research for nuclear waste buried under the rock has got a strong necessity and a very important practical meaning. In this paper, combined with practical engineering applications, the process of shear under the effect of fault dislocation is carried out with the method of finite element. The effect of different inclinations, different shear direction, different depth buried and different thickness of bentonite is studied.Firstly,a summary of the main research contents, methods and results previously is presented, also the key point and insufficient are point out.Secondly,a three-dimensional hydro-mechanical coupling model with the component of bentonite, steel shell and nuclear waste is proposed, including the size, material, load, boundary and the method of loading of the model, and the process of shear was simulated with ABAQUS.Thirdly, the different influences of inclination 0°,22.5°and 45° and shear direction Normal Fault and Thrust Fault are studied,in which the distance of fault, the force and destruction of bentonite and the pore pressure of bentonite are mainly studied. The location of most adverse case and the safety of the model are pointed out at last. Finally, according to the most unfavorable condition, different parameter was discussed, mainly about the impact of depth buried and the thickness of bentonite.According to the discussion of the influence of different factors on nuclear waste canister, some suggestions are given in the aspects of the production, location and embedding of nuclear waste canister, the conclusions presented can be used for a reference in similar study and engineering in the future which have some practical meaning.
