With the reform and opening up and the vigorous development of the whole na?tional economic situation,more and more complex spatial structures emerge.The earthquake will cause different damages to the structures,not only endangering the safety of life,but also causing significant economic losses.Performance-based seis-mic design can meet the needs of multiple performance levels.The concept of the di-rect displacement-based seismic design method is clear.The target displacement is regarded as its design variable,which can control the deformation of the structure under earthquake action.The bearing capacity of the seismic design method is opera-tional effectively.At the current stage,the design idea based on force is more easily accepted by the designers.Through the work of this thesis,we can find the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods,which can help the improvement of the method of seismic design based on performance in the future.It has certain theoretical and reference value.This thesis mainly carries out the following researches:(1)By collecting the last few decades of steel frame of the experimental study,the thesis supplements the displacement limit of performance level of "ensuring per-sonal safety",which is 1/100.(2)By using the direct displacement-based seismic design method,an 8-story steel frame is designed to meet the performance level of multiple performance levels.By using the improved capacity spectra method,the performance evaluation for the steel frame designed is carried out.(3)When designing for each performance level,it is considered that the inaccu-racy of the initial assumed lateral displacement curve may lead to errors in the seismic forces of each layer calculated.It is corrected by the method of nonlinear static anal-ysis.By correcting the initial assumed lateral displacement curve is according to the true lateral curve.(4)This thesis introduces the principle and the step of using the perfor-mance-based design method based on the bearing capacity.The method is applied to the design of a complex three-dimensional space building-Li Zijian Art Museum.By continuously adjusting the layout and the section of the structure,it is able to meet the intended performance goals.
