Valves appear in the hydropower station all over,and the traditional drive methods,such as manual,pneumatic,electric,hydraulic etc.,have their advantages and disadvantages.The magnetostrictive material—Galfenol as a new intelligent material has the advantages of large strain,high precision,large output force,fast response speed and higher reliability.We can use the Galfenol to design and development a new kind of magnetostrictive actuator,this new magnetostrictive actuator can overcome the shortage of the traditional drive methods,further improving valve automation control precision of the hydropower station,ensuring safe and stable operation of turbine generator unit.Set the traditional hydropower valve drive methods and the novel hydropower valve as the starting point,and then by reading literature surveying of the magnetostrictive material and its engineering application,with the research status of inertial impact actuator domestic and foreign.Combined with the new magnetostrictive material-Galfenol,we designed a new type of Galfenol inertial impact actuator and completed a series of foundation work,such as structural design of Galfenol inertial impact drive,selection and magnetic field analysis of Galfenol rod,introduction of inertial impact principle,drive movement of Galfenol inertial impact actuator.In order to establish and solve the three-dimensional coupling dynamic model of magnetostrictive inertial impact actuator,the Jiles-Atherton hysteresis theory and COMSOL Multipysics multi physical field coupling numerical simulation software are introduced.At the end of this article,the trial prototype production of Galfenol inertial impact actuator was proceed.And through the experimental results,we obtained the change curve of displacement with the time,when the Galfenol inertial impact actuator work under the slow rise rapid down driving current signal and the rapid rise slow down driving current signal.Simultaneously,we verified that under the two kinds of driving signal,the drive motion of Galfenol inertial impact actuator is accord with inertial impact principle,the working frequency is not limited to low frequency,and the actuator can realize bidirectional stepping motion with high reliability.
