The water mist fire extinguishing system has been developed gradually in recent years and has been widely used in firefighting systems in various fields at home and abroad.The centralized control building is the control center of thermal power plant,where electrical fire is the most common type of fire.The water mist can effectively extinguish or control the electrical fire,without causing great damage to the electronic equipment in the protected area.After the fire extinguished,the operation can be quickly restored to ensure the safety and stability of the power grid.The water quality of the desalted water in the power plant is relatively high,so the desalted water source can fully meet the requirement of specifications as the fire water source,which can also effectively solve the plugging problem of the sprinkler heads.Therefore,it is of great value and practical significance to carry out the design and research of water mist fire extinguishing system in the centralized control building of thermal power plant.This paper analyzed the water mist fire extinguishing system from various aspects,and proves that it is feasible to apply to the fire protection system of the thermal power plant which has certain advantages both in terms of technology and economy.Aiming at the characteristics of building and fire in centralized control building of thermal power plant,a fire model is established,and numerical simulation tests are carried out to study how sprinkler heads' pressure,flow coefficient of sprinkler heads and layout space of sprinkler heads affect fire extinguishing efficiency of water mist,which demonstrates that the open system of the fully submerged application mode should be adopted in the centralized control building.According to the optimal design parameters and relevant design specifications of the system and sprinkler head,the design and calculation of water mist fire extinguishing system is carried out for the new Shandong Dongying 2×1000MW new project of Northeast Electric Power Design Institute.In the process of designing the actual project,the system design parameters are optimized through numerical simulation tests,which effectively reduces the construction investment cost of fire protection engineering.The design process and design scheme of this project can also be used to guide other engineering,or power plant engineering designers as a reference for future design work to make the water mist fire extinguishing system design more scientific and reasonable,thus promoting the application of water mist fire extinguishing system in power plants.
