A Study On The Spatial Pattern Of Jiangxi Province Ancient Residential Architectures

Liukeng ancient village is typical in Jiangxi traditional rural architectures.It has an especial geographical position,locating in the cultural sub-center of all areas.Multi-cultures mix together,influence and promote each other,producing distinctive residential culture in the central Jiangxi province.Since it was built in Five Dynasty,the size and layout of Liukeng ancient village have not changed substantially.Its primitiveness,specificity and authenticity have been well kept.These plentiful traditional residential architecture resources will provide great values for the research of traditional villages development,the selection of new villages and the evolution of traditional residential architectures.However,as the time passes,these buildings have been eroded by wind and rain,heavily damaged and replaced by some buildings against the whole historic features of the ancient village.Especially in recent years,the urbanization had changed the village layout and made its characteristic value lose.As to this phenomenon,this paper aims to study the traditional residence of Liukeng village and its evolution,tries to find some real problems and provide some relevant suggestions,offering some references in the protection and development of traditional villages for other areas of Jiangxi province.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part analyzes and summarizes the ideas of site selection and planning from climates,geography,resources and environments,points out the concept of harmonious coexistence between human and nature insisted by ancient people,investigates the influences of various factors on the architectural patterns,such as the inner and outer space of building,the different functional space,the traditional culture,the clan concept and the folk faiths,and summarizes the locally cultural characteristics and architectural features which can be taken as theoretical basis for the new rural constructions.The second part puts forward some suggestions aiming to solve the present problems in Liukeng ancient village,and offers proposals for the planning and constructions of new rural area with the prerequisite of keeping local cultures.The third Part takes the ancient architecture characteristics and the “coexistence of ancient architecture and new architecture”mode for new village construction as theoretical foundations,investigates the natural resources,geographical environment and function planning related to Liukeng new village,makes planning and design on the basis of the practical situations in the Liukeng new village,and puts forward some suggestions on the construction plan for Liukeng new village,which is of certain significance to Liukeng traditional village protection and development and the new village’s planning and construction.
