In recent years,with the rapid development of China's economy,the construction industry and freight industry is booming,commercial road vehicles and construction vehicles demand is growing;the same time,people on the cab's aesthetics and comfort requirements are getting higher and higher.To meet customer needs,major vehicle manufacturers have developed a wide range of heavy trucks.Heavy truck bumper system as a key component of the cab,its reliability and appearance quality directly determine the success or failure of the cab's design.At present,the research on the bumper system of passenger car is deepening at home and abroad,but less on the bumper system of the commercial vehicle,which leads design of heavy truck bumper to neglecting the external factors,it makes fail to the bumper,such as,cracks,deformation and headlight jitter etc.,shorts the service life of the bumper system.In this paper,on the basis of the bumper system design,summarized the method of heavy truck bumper system design,as well as the laws and regulations that reference for design,it has a guiding significance to the future heavy truck bumper system design;In addition,the paper analysed the bumper structure's modal and static strength by the finite element analysis software HyperWorks,then optimized the design of heavy truck bumper,it effectively avoid the bumper crack problems appeared in the process of road test.The results show that:(1)According to the finite element analysis and the results of the road test,the risk parts of the bumper structure are basically same as that of the road test.(2)According to the finite element analysis and the results of the road test,the bumper system has been optimized,finally,the static strength to meet the design requirements,road test verification no bumper cracking phenomenon.(3)The paper summarized the method of engineering design and the improved strategy of fail,it will supply reference for future design of the same bumper.
