As the country put forward the strategic target—Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,to promote the balance of development and to get through the urban internal channels for the both sides of the Pearl River,the government of Guangdong province get ready to set up six highway tunnel across the Pearl River(including which has been built and which are under construction and under planning).As a result of the clearance of navigation,the crossing-river highway tunnels which are under planning and under construction are often used to cross the Pearl River in the way of a large span bridge or bridge-tunnel combination,which has strong crossing ability and relatively low cost.Because of the poor economic performance and difficulty of construction control,immersed tunnel plan is seldom adopted.Since the changeable climate environment and the complex geological situation of the Pearl River Estuary,it asks for more during the structure design and traffic engineering design for the crossing-river-bridges.The traffic engineering design of the crossing-river-bridges must be aimed at the realization of safety and credibility,as well as the controlling intelligence.In addition to traffic engineering mechanical and electrical systems,there are a lot of complex electromechanical system for the large span bridge,while it's an important issue that how to make the project constructed fast and well with scientific planning and overall management.According to the problems of current traffic engineering design,combining with the environmental characteristics of the Pearl River Estuary as well as the management requirements,the paper analyzes the difficulties of traffic engineering design from several aspects for the crossing-river-bridges in the Pearl River,such as the operation management mode,reserve embedded design,traffic safety facilities and mechanical and electrical systems.Then,as an example,the paper briefly introduces the design points and system solutions of the reserve embedded design,the designing interface division,traffic safety facilities,monitoring system,communication system,power supply and lighting system design,pipeline system and fire control facilities for the Humen Second Bridge project,make responses to the difficulties of traffic engineering design for the crossing-river-bridges in the Pearl River,and put forward a better solution.The Humen Second Bridge project adopts a kind of energy-saving power supply system,which has advantages such as low cost,energy saving and convenient construction,could provide a choice in power supply designing for the crossing-river-bridges in the Pearl River.Through the discussion and research of the paper,it can be used for reference in the traffic engineering design for the crossing-river-bridges in the Pearl River or other places.
