With the the development of economy and society, demand of forest multi-function is increasing. Countries in the world are exploring a way for the development of its multi-use forest management. A comprehensive method combining theory with practice, qualitative with quantitative, field investigation with scientific reasoning is used in this research. On the basis of exploring the concept, meaning and characteristics of the forest multi-use management, a functional orientation was determined, the evaluation index system of multi-use forest management was set up, and major technical measures were put forward according to the evaluation results. The results can provide a reference for the scientific forest management and decision-making of government in the study area and other places in southern Jiangxi privince, have theoretical value to promote multi-use forest management and great application value to carry out multi-use forest management.The main results are as follows:(1) Studies suggest that the multi-use forest management allowed to choose a leading function according to the socio-economic and natural conditions. By rational management at stand level, giving full play to a leading function, considering to other functions in the same time. Protecting rationally, enhancing, and sustainability using forest multi-function., to realize forest optimization multi-function, to furthest and sustainably meet the increasing demand of forest multifunction in development of economy and society. The basic connotation of multi-use forest management included two aspects, The one was to insist on using leading function and considering to other functions at the same time, the other was that realizing forest multifunction by rational management. Characteristics of the forest multi-use management were stand scale features, sustainable features and differences features.(2) The evaluation index system of multi-use forest management was set up synthetically using frequency statistical methods, theoretical analysis, expert advice and other methods, Which including18indices of coverage, stand structure, ecological fragility, stand qualities, and site factors, the connotation of the indicators and calculation methods were defined, and analytic hierarchy (AHP) was used to determine the weight of each index.(3) Utilizing the fuzzy synthesis judgment, multi-use forest management level of aerial seeding Pinus Massoniana forest was evaluated, and the result showed that: evaluation result of the whole aerial seeding Pinus Massoniana forest in Xingguo county A=(0.17870.27910.5422), according to maximum membership degree law, belonged to low grade. From subcompartment level, each subcompartment was evaluated,211subcompartments belonged to excellent grade,474subcompartments belonged to middle grade, and893subcompartments belonged to low grade. The main limiting factor of excellent grade subcompartments was human disturbance, the main limiting factors of middle grade were low understory coverage and single composing tree species, the main limiting factor of excellent grade were low canopy density, low understory coverage and the declination of trees growth.(4) Based on evaluation results and analysis of the results, to give full play to forest multifunction, different technical measures were proposed for different grades of its main limiting factor. Closed forest was for excellent grade subcompartments, thinning and replanting broad-leaves trees were for middle grade subcompartments, replanting, tending and understory vegetation restoration were for low grade subcompartments.
