Between the several gases which produced in farm, ammonia (NH3) is the most harmful for farm animal when they grow up in closed and scaled houses of pig breeding. It not only reduces growth performance, but also makes swine fall ill more easily, and become main pollutant source of livestock and poultry production. Ammonia has become the common index to access the farm air quality all over the world. Intelligentized measure and control technology in livestock breeding field is a very important direction for developmental stockbreeding in 21st century. It will promote the change form extensive and low effective in pasture husbandry. In developed country, it is considered as a revolution of livestock production management at the threshold of the new millennium. The effective methods for estimating ammonia emission reduction and the key of measure and control technology in livestock breeding field is NH3 emission factor. The NH3 emission factors models have been paid more and more attention, more and more researchers have focus their main research on the NH3 emission factors models. This paper designs a air quality monitoring system for closed and scaled houses of pig breeding after analyzing a lot of literatures and surveying at the aquaculture farm, and establishes a ammonia forecasting model based on Grey Hidden Markov Model (GHMM) in pig breeding science and technology demonstration center in Yueyang City, Hunan province. The real-time prediction system of ammonia was built in remote server. There are three aspects we have achieved:1. In view of the demand of dissolved NH3 forecast in concentrated animal feeding operations, we designed an air quality monitoring system based on wireless sensor network through literature review, expert interviews and field monitoring. In order to fulfill the requirement of NH3 forecast in concentrated animal feeding operations, the air quality monitoring platform was designed to achieve automatic monitoring of air quality parameters, including air temperature, humidity, NH3, H2S, CO2 and so on. It's realized that air quality management with both on-site and remote monitoring center by using ZigBee and GPRS as close and remote communication protocols, so that the technologists can receive real-time data and tackle the exception.2. Maked analysis on the data of air which is relative with NH3 based on the Grey GM(1,1) model. By combining the grey model and Hidden Markov Model (HMM), the article puts forward a prediction model called Grey Hidden Markov Model (GHMM).3. Based on the predict of air temperature, humidity and NH3, once the prediceting of air temperature is under 15? or the ammonia concentration is over 20 mg/m3, the heating equipment or ventilation equipment is turned on to maintenance the pig house at perfect state and on the other hand, the alarming message is sent to technicians.The system was tested and the results showed that:air quality monitoring system work stability. The data collected and transformation is effective and reliable. NH3 real-time prediction system is effective in the process of concentrated animal feeding operations which can help protect the pigs from NH3 pollution.
