The object of this study was to improve the silage quality and aerobic stability of high mo isture Italian ryegrass by adding lactic acid bacteria and mixed silage, and to select the best stu bble to ferment Italian ryegrass silage by comparing the effects of different stubble on the sila ge quality.Aim to provide technical support for the rational use and large-scale silage popularization and application of Italian ryegrass in Southwest China. The results as follows:1.Effects of lactic acid bacteria additive on the quality and aerobic stability of Italian ryegrass silageWhether or not to adding lactic acid bacteria, the contents of butyrate acid and ammoniacal nitrogen/total nitrogen could not achieve the conditions of high quality silage when Italian ryegrass was ensilaged with 85.23%moisture content, but the silage quality of adding lactic acid bacteria was better;with moisture content of 74.70%,the silage quality of Italian ryegrass with lactic acid bacteria additive was better than that without application, and the silage quality was better with higher level of lactic acid bacteria;ensilaged with moisture content of 65.70%,the silage quality of Italian ryegrass was good with or without lactic acid bacteria additive, and the effect of additive application was better than that of non application.Adding lactic acid bacteria can improve the lactic acid content, decrease the content of butyric acid and ammonia nitrogen, significantly improve the silage quality. But wilting and adding lactic acid bacteria had no effect on the aerobic stability of Italian ryegrass silage, and promoted secondary fermentation. It was suggested that the 65.70%moisture content and lactic and bacteria of 107 cfu/g FM was the best treatment.2.Effects of rice straw bacteria additive on the quality and aerobic stability of Italian ryegrass silageMixed silages with the rice straw can significantly reduce the content of ammonia nitrogen and butyric acid.Tlhe ammoniacal initrogen/total nitrogen of R2(Italian ryegrass:rice straw=8:2)and the butyric acid content of R,(Italian ryegrass:rice straw=7:3)were the lowest, and the V-score of R;was significantly higher than others.Mixed silages with the rice straw can improve the fermentation quality of Italian ryegrass silage.Mixed silage can reduce the increased speed of pH value and ammoniacal nitrogen/total nitrogen and decreased the decline of dry matter and soluble carbohydrate content. It can also inhibit secondary fermentation and improve the aerobic stability of Italian ryegrass silage. It was suggested that the 7:3 mixed proportions of Italian ryegrass and rice straw was best for improving silage quality, aerobic stability, and maximum using straw.3.Effects of different stubble on the quality of Italian ryegrass silage The silage quality of second stubble was best because of the lower pH value.ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen.butyric acid content than others, and the higher crude protein than others. The differences in above ilndexes was significant when ensilaged with moisture content of 75%:only the second stubble silage pH value was less than 4.2 when ensilaged with moisture content of 65%.and the silage quality of 65%was better than 75%.It is concluded that ensiling at second stubble produced the highest silage quality.
