The trial was conducted to study the effects of surfactin on the intestinal health and serum immune indexes of weanling piglets. Two hundred weanling piglets with an average body weight of(8.80±0.31)kg were randomly divided into 5 groups with 4 replicates per group and 10 piglets per replicate.Piglets were fed 5 experimental diets containing different levels of surfactin, which were 0(control group),50,100,150 mg/kg and 55 mg/kg kitasamycin, respectively. The trial period was 28 days. The results showed as follows: compared with control group, the diarrhea rate in all surfactin supplemental groups and kitasamycin supplemention group were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The growth performance of 100 mg/kg supplementation group was higher than those of other supplementation groups. There was no significant difference in amylase activity among surfactin supplementation groups(P>0.05)(except 150 mg/kg surfactin supplementation group). The activitie of lipase was firstly increased and then decreased with the dietary surfactin level increasing, the maximum of lipase was found in 150 mg/kg surfactin group. The activitie of protease protease was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the maximum of lipase was found in 100 mg/kg surfactin group. The total antioxidant capacity levels and superoxide dismutase levels were significantly increased in all surfactin supplementation groups and kitasamycin supplemention group(P<0.05),The activitie of glutathione peroxidase was significantly increased in 100 mg/kg surfactin supplementation group(P<0.05).The catalase activities in all treatment groups were similar(P>0.05).The levels of malondialdehyde were significantly decreased in all surfactin supplementation groups and kitasamycin supplemention group(P<0.05).No significant difference was found among surfactin supplementation groups(P>0.05).The number of Escherichia coli in cecum and rectum was significantly decreased by surfactin or kitasamycin supplementation(P<0.05),the number of Lactobacillus in cecum and rectum was significantly increased by surfactin supplementation(P<0.05).The total bacterial content was significantly decreased by kitasamycin supplementation(P<0.05).The immunoglobulin G level in surfactin supplementation group(except 50 mg/kg surfactin group)and kitasamycin supplemention group was significantly increased(P<0.05).The immunoglobulin M level, the complement 3 and the activities of lysozyme in all surfactin supplementation groups were significantly increased(P<0.05).It was concluded that surfactin could improve serum immunology indexes and intestinal tract health status of weanling piglets. The recommended supplementation level of dietary surfactin was 100 mg/kg under present experimental condition. |
