| This research is to systematically study and analyze Containerized Nursery from five aspects, including container size, seeding substrate, fertilizer, root-control method and seedling density, taking Machilus pauhoi Kanehira as the study material, which is a native afforestation and reforestation species in Guangxi province. Based on the determination of seedling diameter, height, capital root length, number of lateral roots over 5cm, as well as seedling biomass and analysis of some physiological index (root vigor, chlorophyll content and nutrient content), we have a good knowledge of the seedling growth rhythm. Suitable container size, growing medium, suitable fertilizer, root-control method and seedling density are determined. So the basic techniques could be a important support for industrialized seedling production of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira.The experiments were done at a demonstration nursery in Daguishan forest of Guangxi province. The main results were shown as follows:(1) In order to select the suitable container sizes, the small plastic bags(7cm×11cm)、 medium plastic bags (10cm×10cm)、big plastic (12cm×12cm) were used for growing seedling. After an overall study and analyses, it was found that the best size of container for Machilus pauhoi Kanehira growing was medium plastic bags (10cm×10cm). As the seedling quality in this size of containers was the best both in morphological and physiological indexes.(2) Three kinds of growing media loess, topsoil and light media were used for growing seedling to compare their effect on seedling quality of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira. It was found that the light media was the best media for growing seedling of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira. As the seedling quality in this media containers was the best both in morphological and physiological indexes. Followed by topsoil, the seedling quality in losee is the worst.(3) Three kinds of fertilizer Nuowei, Qiangliwang and Feideliuyou were used for growing seedling to compare their effect on seedling quality of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira. It was found that the Nuowei was the best for growing seedling of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira. As the seedling quality in this fertilizer containers was the best both in height and diameter. But physiological indexes in all fertilizer were not significantly different from each other.(4)Three root-control methods were used to improve the root quality of containerized seedling of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira, including air pruning, chemical pruning and the combination of air pruning and chemical pruning. The result of experiments showed that the air pruning and the combination of air pruning and chemical pruning were very effective for root-control, on account of the roots conglobation were obvious, and the numbers of lateral roots as well as root vigor were significantly different from other treatments. For chemical pruning, the carbonate cuprum concentration of 150g.L-1 was the best for Machilus pauhoi Kanehira.(5) Three different densities were designed to study the effect of density on the quality of containerized seedling of Machilus pauhoi Kanehira, including 36 bags/m2,64 bags/m2,100 bags/m2.It was found that the seedling density significantly affected the seedling uniformity and quality. Thinking about all morphological and physiological indexes, the seedlings at the density of 64 bags/m2 grew best on the whole, the seedling in this density was the most suitable for afforestation. |
