Ixora plants with Tropical characteristics,bright-coloured and enthusiastic,have a good view,a wide range of environmental adaptability and appeared more application value, which make its have more and more broad market and economic benefits. Thus increasing the scientific research on Ixora plants is of vital importance.Nine Ixora plants which are commonly applied in South China were selected for the experimental research, including I. casei 全uper King', I. chinensis, I. coccinea var. bandhuca,I. coccinea var. coccinea f. coccinea, I. coccinea var. coccinea f. lutea, I. coccinea var. rosea,I. sp., I. 全unkist' and I. williamsii 全unkist'. In order to the breeding and application, for the next research and development of new species, and to prepare mining entertaining and resistant good flower shrubs, primary research on nine Ixora plants' leaf morphological characteristics, leaf functional traits and cutting propagation was done. By measuring the leaf base data and the cutting test data, and studying the plants leaf traits and cutting propagation, the results are as follows:(1)The average leaf area size of nine Ixora plants was ranked as: Ixora chinensis > Ixora coccinea var. bandhuca > Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. coccinea > Ixora casei 全uper King'> Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. lutea> Ixora coccinea var. rosea > Ixora 全unkist'> Ixora sp.>Ixora williamsii 全unkist'. The average leaf perimeter and average leaf length were in agreement with the order of the average leaf area. Nine Ixora plants were divided into three categories: leaf area greater than 30 cm2 was the large leaf,such as Ixora chinensis; leaf area less than 10cm2 was the small type,such as Ixora 全unkist', Ixora sp. and Ixora williamsii 全unkist'; and the others was the middle class, whose leaf area is between the 10cm2~ 30cm2.(2)The Ixora sp. correlation coefficient of leaf area and leaf perimeter, leaf vertical length, leaf average width is the biggest and horizontal width's correlation coefficient was second, the similarity of the leaves is the highest of the 9 species.For Ixora chinensis and Ixora casei 全uper King',the correlation coefficient of leaf area and leaf perimeter, leaf vertical length, horizontal width and leaf average width was relatively high, and the leaf was similar. The correlation coefficient of leaf area with other index of Ixora 全unkist' and Ixora williamsii 全unkist' was in the middle of position of 9 kind of Ixora plant,leaves of them had little variation. The correlation coefficient of Ixora coccinea var. rosea, Ixora coccinea var. bandhuca and Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. lutea is relatively low, and the leaves varied.Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. coccinea 's correlation coefficient ranked the eighth and similarity was the lowest, and the leaves varied much.(3)The leaf indexes, such as Leaf thickness, Specific Leaf Area, Specific Leaf Volume, Dry Matter Weight, Leaf Tissue Density, Relative Water Content, Leaf Water Content, Chlorophyll-a, Chlorophyll-b etc.,showed that Ixora coccinea var. rosea, Ixora 全unkist', Ixora coccinea var. Bandhuca, Ixora sp.and Ixora williamsii 全unkist' had better adaptations to the drought areas, the nutrient-poor habitat or shaded places than the other Ixora plants.(4)Cutting propagation experiment results showed that all the measured indicators of Ixora 全unkist' and Ixora sp. in the treatment of different concentrations had consistent performance,that is, in 100 mg / L NAA+100mg/L IBA treatment and the survival rate, rooting rate, the old leaf rate, the rate of new leaf, total root number, root length is best, with the exception of adventitious root number in 200 mg / L NAA+200mg/L IBA when effect of best, show low concentration is in favor of the cuttage survival, but high concentration promote adventitious root number increased. To Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. coccinea, Ixora chinensis and Ixora coccinea var. rosea, they had the same perforamance,new leaf rate in 100 IBA NAA+100mg/L IBA best display and the other indexes are best in 200 mg / L NAA+200mg/L IBA treatment;and treatment of high concentration is suitable, but low concentration is conducive to the new leaf germination. Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. lutea and Ixora casei 全uper King' perfered grow in low concentration, Ixora coccinea var. bandhuca liked the more concentration and Ixora williamsii 全unkist' needed the highest concentration treatment among the three species.(5)In addition to the survival rate,the other indexes had a significant correlation with species, that is, different kinds of Ixora cuttings, rooting rate, rate of old leaves, rate of new leaf, total root number, root number, adventitious root length index would have obvious difference.In summary:the result of cutting propagation showed that Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. lutea, Ixora coccinea var. coccinea f. coccinea, Ixora 全unkist' and Ixora williamsii 全unkist' performance better, followed by Ixora sp., Ixora coccinea var. bandhuca and Ixora coccinea var. rosea;the poor performance, Ixora casei 全uper King' and Ixora chinensis.
