Forest soil is the foundation of forest tree growth, and its physical properties are usually considered as an important indicator of site quality. Soil is formed under the combined effects of climate, vegetation, topography, parent material, factor, natural forest and plantation soil with different physical characteristics, differences of different forest types. Study on the relationship between the understanding of forest and soil, the forest renewal, restoration complex and reconstruction has important significance. In this paper, the forest soil in Yunfu area was studied. The soil moisture and physical properties of different stand types were systematically studied by the method of field investigation and indoor analysis. The results showed that:(1) In different stand types, the moisture absorption water content of coniferous mixed forest was the highest, while the moisture content in pinus massoniana and acacia forest was relatively poor, the moisture absorption water content in different soil layersof the mixed forest was higher than that in the pure forest. In each soil layer, the moisture absorption water content of the surface(0-20cm) was significantly higher than that of the deep(80-100cm).(2) The natural moisture content of cunninghamia lanceolata forest was the highest, and the variation law of mixed forest was different in different stand types. The soil natural moisture content of mixed forest was higher than that of other mixed forest. The natural moisture content of surface soil is higher than that of deep layer soil in different soil layers.(3) In different stand types, the soil capillary capacity of cunninghamia lanceolata forest was the highest, and the soil capillary capacity of acacia forest was the lowest. The soil capillary water capacity is different in different stand rule. In general, with the deepening of the soil, capillary moisture content has a tendency to decrease.(4) The texture types of different stand types were divided into three types: light loam, medium loam and heavy loam, mainly in the medium loam based. The law of soil texture was not obvious in different soil layers.(5)The soil bulk density difference is not significant, the bulk density of surface soil is maintained at the same level, its value is about 1.1. In different soil layers, soil bulk density increases with the increase of soil depth.(6) In different standtypes, the difference of soil total porosity is not obvious. In each soil layer, the total porosity of the soil decreased with the increase of the soil layer, the total porosity of the surface soil was significantly higher than that of the deep soil. The non capillary porosity in deep soil was lower than the surface soil.(7) In different stand, the soil aeration porosity of natural forest is better, and the second is the artificial forest. The aeration porosity of each soil layer decreased with the increase of the depth of soil layer, the soil aeration porosity was poorin the deep soil.(8) In this study, the soil physical properties of 7 kinds of forest stands can be roughly divided into 4 categories: The first category is broad leaved mixed forest, coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest and cunninghamia lanceolata forest. The second category is the eucalyptus forest. The third category is coniferous mixed forest. The fourth category is pinus massoniana forest and acacia forest. On the whole, the comprehensive soil physical properties is better in broad leaved mixed forest, coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest and cunninghamia lanceolata forest, and it is poor in pinus massoniana forest and acacia forest.
