Vertical greening as a new way of urban greening, which plays an important role in beautifying the environment and creating a good ecological. In this paper, buildings in Guangzhou and Shenzhen which applied the vertical greening were taken as survey points, then the statistics and analysis of the plant were made. The plants that suitable for vertical greening were filtered out by the analytic hierarchy process(AHP). This paper was made mainly on the air garden, and combining the landscape aesthetics, ecology, ergonomics with color science, specific plant configuration mode was proposed, then the relevant effect drawing was made. The main research results are as follows:1. The main species of grass in the lawn roof are Callisia repens and Sedum lineare. About 20 kinds of vegetables(belonging to 10 families and 16 genera) were applied on the roof gardens.Air garden applied 195 species plants, which belong to 76 families and 147 genera. 66 species of plants(belonging to 30 families and 50 genera) were applied in new metope greening.2. The plants in the air garden were analyzed as follows:(1) the plant life form: 195 species belonging to 76 families and 147 genera were recorded in the air garden.in which, the trees species took 29.74%, the shrubs 34.87%, the herbs 28.21%, the lianas 7.18%.(2) the dominant plant species: the dominant families were: Palmae, Liliaceae, Araceae, Moraceae, Leguminosae, Gramineae, Euphorbiaceae, Rubiaceae.(3) ornamental parts of plants: there were 65 species of flowering plants, 18 species of fruit plants, 118 species of foliage plants.(4) the plant source: there were 77 native species with taking 39.49%. The plant of new metope greening was analysed as follows: 5 species of Pteridophyte, which accounted of 7.58%. 1 specie of Gymnosperm, accounted of 1.51%, 60 species of angiosperms, accounted of 90.91%. The analysis of the life type, 33 species of woody plants took 50.00%, and 31 species of herbs took 46.97%, 2 species of lianas took 3.03%. The analysis of ornamental parts, there were 15 species flowering plants, 3 species fruiting plants, 54 species foliage plants. 15 native tree species which accounted for 21.21%. The technology of new metope greening mainly are the cultivation trough type, bag type and the module type.3. Based on the field investigation and references, 188 species of plants were preliminary screened for AHP analysis. The suitability for vertical greening of plants were evaluated from the three criteria layers and nine factor which included drought resistance, barren, cold, wind, dust, noise reduction, improving micro climate, ornamental parts, color and seasonal, overall ornamental effect. 28 species with the comprehensive score >=7.00 were selected as class?tree species, which could be used in the landscape design as the main trees. 54 species of plants with the comprehensive score 6.5 ~ 7 were selected as class II tree specie,which could be used in landscape design as recommended tree species. 55 species of plants with the comprehensive score 6.0-6.5 were selected as class III tree specie, which could be used in landscape design as supplementary tree species.The plants that in comprehensive score <6.00 were selected as class IV tree species,,which were not recommend to use in the landscape design.4. The advantages and disadvantages of the current vertical greening's plant configuration were analyzed, and the air garden was taken as an example on studying the plant disposition. The color scheme of green, red, yellow and purple was choosed by the aspects of the choice of colors. The plant disposition was based on a observer with the height of 167 cm, the landscape sight of 20~25m by the aspects of the spatial scale. The width of the landscape is 6 ~ 8m, and the height was 10~13m. 12 species of specific plants configuration mode were made, and the related effect diagram was drawn by sketch up software.
